Decorating your dining table for Christmas

The dining table is the focal point for the family meal, and never more so than on Christmas Day. A beautifully dressed table can make all the difference and ensure that magical memories are created throughout the festive period. Here are some of our style tips to inspire your dinner table decorations.

Traditional

If you are looking for a traditional Christmas look, our centres are fully stocked with table accessories in red, green, gold, and silver. Build your colour theme from there with matching napkins, crackers or candles.

Pair with crisp white crockery and sprays of natural conifer or eucalyptus and a circle of candles for your table centre. Tea lights in front of each place setting so will make the whole table twinkle with lights.

Natural

Consider using plants and items from your garden to dress your table. Holly is synonymous with Christmas due to its bright red berries being particularly attractive in an oasis floral foam arrangement for the big day with winter greenery such as ivy.

Pinecones can also be arranged in a bowl as a rustic table centrepiece with dried seed heads and leaves, as well as dried hydrangea, poppy, and sea holly heads, which make great additions to an oasis or table bowls. Rosehip berries, viburnum, hawthorn, and mistletoe are all beautifully festive and can be used to fill glass vases and candle holders on tables whilst old logs can be dried, then a small hole can be drilled at the top of the log for a tealight to be placed.

White Christmas

For a real impact, consider a white, minimalist table scheme to reflect winter and all its magic. Pair white tinsel with silver baubles contrasting brown wood and evergreen sprays for an elegant and classic look. Add LED lights and candles to create a warm and welcoming ambience for eating guests.

Gold placements and crackers will set the White Christmas theme off perfectly and the addition of clear crystal wine glasses will add some magical sparkle to your Christmas table. White dishes are so easy to find and inexpensive.

Faux snow makes the most fabulous table runner for this theme and the lush green foliage of a garland or wreath as table centres will complete the look.

Colour pop

We have seen the trend for bold colours in the home so why not make the most of a bright theme this Christmas? With homeowners looking to bring joy back into their lives through colour, this Christmas theme will appear to a younger generation.

For a modern aesthetic, why not pair the winter colours of silver and blue, with bolder shades like royal blue, rich purple and magenta pick to make a strong statement?

Start with a garland as a table runner and use the earthy greenery with the pretty coloured ornaments, accessories and twinkly lights.  For an element of fun, use bright ribbons on each table setting and tie them around to look like a little wrapped present.

Add some trendy coloured stem wine glasses and set chairs with jazzy covers for a daring and original look.
