With the FIFA World Cup 2026 kicking off this month, there's no better time to transform your garden, patio or doorstep with your favourite team's colours. As we prepare to watch 48 nations battle it out across North America, get your garden celebration ready with British Garden Centres.
Planting for England
Red and white is the obvious starting point for England fans. A bold red geranium planted alongside cascading white petunias in a pot or hanging basket is all it takes. Both will flower relentlessly from the World Cup right through to autumn with very little effort.
Red begonias are another star performer (hopefully just like the England team), with rich, velvety, long-lasting blooms.
Plant them in window boxes and large patio containers alongside white busy lizzies, which flower all summer long.
For height and drama, pair red fuchsias with trailing white lobelia in a hanging basket for a classic combination that never fails and will keep the St George's flag flying all summer.

Favourite Team Flowers
England aren't the only team worth cheering on, of course. There are plenty of plants that can help you create a beautiful flowering tribute to your favourite nation.
French fans can go patriotic with deep blue lobelia, white petunias and red geraniums planted together to create a tricolore in a pot. Germany's black, red and gold colours are also easy to replicate by planting red geraniums with bright yellow marigolds, creating a bold border display full of World Cup spirit.
Brazil supporters can cheer on their team with yellow marigolds and vibrant green foliage. It'll be the most cheerful planter on the street, regardless of what's happening on the pitch! Spain's red and yellow can be recreated with deep red begonias and golden French marigolds, resulting in a combination full of warmth and sunshine.
Let's not forget Scotland fans, whose team is making its first appearance at the World Cup since 1998. Why not plant blue lobelia and white petunias? It's one of the most classic summer planting combinations and a lovely nod to the Scottish Saltire. And, of course, we must mention the reigning World Cup champions, Argentina. Their sky blue and white colours work beautifully in the garden too, with pale blue lobelia and white geraniums creating a display that looks elegant and patriotic.
