Fill your home with life

While we love being in the garden, we have to admit it’s not quite the same in the middle of January. But what if we told you there’s a way to cure your winter blues? A way to surround yourself with fabulous foliage 365 days a year… (No, we’re not talking about jetting off to the Maldives, sadly.) The real answer? Houseplants!

Why buy houseplants?

Unlike the British climate, our homes stay relatively warm all-year-round.

This means exotic houseplants can thrive inside all-year round - no matter what the weather outside is doing!

There’s so many reasons to bring plants into your home, from brightening up your space to improving your health.

Want to find out more?

Here’s 3 reasons to fill your home with greenery…

Boost your mood

A room full of plants doesn’t just look amazing – it’s good for you too!

Studies have shown that looking at houseplants boosts levels of the feel-good chemical dopamine, lowers stress levels, and can improve our ability to concentrate.

Whether you work from home or are frazzled by housework, why not consider bringing a bit of greenery inside to calm your mind and soothe your soul this January?

Brighten your space

With such a vast range of shapes and sizes available, you can find a plant to brighten up just about any corner of your home.

The gentle, flowing foliage of houseplants is perfect for breaking up hard surfaces like walls and furniture to give your space a softer, more balanced look.

Got a shelf, bookcase or cabinet that’s looking a bit bare? Adding trailing plants like pothos or ivy creates a stunning cascade of greenery.

Purify the air

And breathe…

As well as boosting your mood, houseplants are proven to improve air quality by filtering out harmful toxins.

The more plants you have, the greater effect – so it’s the perfect excuse to fill your home with foliage!

Top 3 Easy Care Houseplants

Got a bad track record for killing plants?

Here’s 3 houseplants that look great, but are super hard to kill (not that we encourage you try).

The main care tip to consider – especially with the 3 plants below – is to water a lot less often than you think. You’re much more likely to kill a houseplant by overwatering it than underwatering it, so, if in doubt, hang fire with the watering can!

Snake Plant

The Snake Plant, or Sansevieria to use its posh name, is a tall plant native to West Africa.

Its elegant, slim green stems are edged with stunning, vibrant yellow for a lovely sunny, exotic feel.

Being used to such a hot and dry environment, Snake Plants are extremely hardy and need very little water.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is a bit of a wonder plant.

Not only is the gel inside its leaves used to make everything from soap to skin cream, it also makes for a beautiful houseplant!

Its thick, luxurious leaves have a spectacular blue-green tint and striking, serrated edges.

As a succulent, it stores most of its water in its leaves, meaning it will happily go months between watering.

Purple and yellow crocus

African Spear Plant

With its chunky, pointy stems, the African Spear Plant really stands out from the crowd.

It can handle a wide variety of situations and, just like the Snake Plant and Aloe Vera, requires very little watering.

It’s the perfect low-effort, super-stylish houseplant!
